Santander mayor temporarily closes municipal hall for disinfection

THE entire Municipal Hall of Santander in southern Cebu will be temporarily closed from Wednesday, July 21, 2021 to Friday, July 23, for disinfection as some employees have tested positive for the virus that causes Covid-19.

Mayor Marites Buscato made the announcement on Tuesday, July 20, on the town’s official Facebook page.

Buscato said there were other employees who showed symptoms of Covid-19 and they were scheduled to take the swab test to determine whether they contracted Sars-CoV-2, the novel coronavirus that causes the respiratory disease.

The latest data from the Santander Municipal Government states that the town has a total of nine active Covid-19 cases.

The local government urged its residents to follow health protocols such as wearing masks and observing social distancing to prevent Covid-19 from spreading in the municipality. It also asked its constituents to regularly wash their hands and strengthen the immune system by taking vitamins.

Despite the closure of its town hall, the local government announced that the offices of the Rural health Unit, waterworks, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Office, police station and Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office remain open for emergencies. (ANV / KAL)
