Senatorial aspirant wants death penalty for corrupt officials

SENATORIAL aspirant and former Presidential Anti-Corruption Committee (PACC) chairman Greco Belgica proposed to impose the death penalty for those corrupt government officials if he wins and earns a seat in the senate.

Belgica was in Cebu on Friday, November 26, 2021 to lead the inauguration of the campaign headquarters of Partido ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan (PDDS) in Banilad, Cebu City.

In his speech, Belgica said he wants to strengthen anti-corruption campaigns such as instituting a police force that is solely dedicated to implementing laws against corruption and expanding the powers of the PACC to reach the barangay level.

Belgica claimed that the Duterte administration has “the most” accomplishment in the anti-corruption campaign compared to any president and also criticized those senators who are saying that they are anti-corruption advocates.

“Let me ask them, for how many years that they have been sitting in the Senate, with all the investigation, how many cases have you filed in court?” Belgica said, in Tagalog.

President Rodrigo Duterte and Senator Christopher “Bong” Go filed their certificate of candidacy last October 2021 under the political party of PDDS.

Belgica said PDDS was established in 2018 to continue the battle that Duterte had started such as the war against drugs, criminality and corruption.
