Police identified the victim as Gregorio Villaver, 73, married, of Barangay Carmen, Toledo City.
He was rushed to the hospital, where the attending physician declared him dead.
Rossel Villaber Cañeda, 27, single, driver of Isuzu Canter with plate number JDD 678, from Barangay Canlomampao, surrendered to responding policemen.
Patrolman Elmar Garingo, investigator of Toledo City Police Station, told SunStar Cebu that the victim was riding a bicycle after buying his favorite steamed rice cake (puto) in the morning.
But as he turned the bike along an intersection going to his house, the truck struck him from behind.
Due to the strong impact, Villaver was knocked from the bike and was run over by the vehicle.
The truck driver was reportedly in a hurry to get the hollow blocks that he needed to deliver.
Garingo said the family of the victim would file a case against Cañeda. (GPL/TPT)
