Shell, Grab tie up to provide drivers perks, incentives

DOWNSTREAM oil refining and marketing business company Pilipinas Shell has partnered with Grab Philippines in its operations in Metro Cebu as part of the mobility efforts to spur economic activity amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Through the partnership, Grab riders and drivers will reap the benefits of discounts and perks every time they gas up in a Shell mobility station in Cebu.

“We are committed to really drive mobility and empowering progress here in the Philippines so we want to move it forward in response to the challenges, especially brought about by the pandemic,” Randy del Valle, vice president for retail business in Pilipinas Shell, said during a virtual presscon on Wednesday, April 7, 2021.

Del Valle said Pilipinas Shell is looking forward to the various modernization of Cebu’s transportation infrastructure with the completion of the third Cebu-Mactan bridge and the modern transit.

Shell said riders and drivers are given fuel and meal discounts as well as safety checkpoints where they can disinfect themselves and their equipment. They are also provided with telemedicine, insurance support and scholarships for their children.

Rolyn Tomarong, non-fuel retail manager of Pilipinas Shell, said their company has expanded their offers to make sure that it is able to serve the additional essentials required and needed by customers in Cebu.

There are 43 Shell Select stores that offer an extensive variety of products.

With a thousand riders and drivers in its fleet in Metro Cebu, Grab Philippines country head Grace Vera Cruz said their driver and delivery partner communities play an essential role in the longer term socio-economic recovery of Cebu.

“We are committed to supporting their needs and helping them succeed through our network and platform. We believe that despite the easing of community lockdowns and the Covid-19 vaccinations, many of our kababayans (countrymen) will continue to prioritize strict safety and hygiene standards when it comes to transportation and on-demand deliveries,” she said.

With many businesses and government agencies shifting to the digital space, GrabFood, GrabMart and GrabExpress will continue to support them by delivering their products and services to the customers, Cruz said. (JOB)
