Sheraton Cebu Mactan Resort celebrates first Christmas tree lighting

SHERATON Cebu Mactan Resort marked its first Christmas lighting this year with the theme “Christmas: Light of the Community” to remind everyone to be hopeful despite the challenges of the pandemic, as well as to celebrate its associates, the community and its opening as the first Marriott International resort in the Philippines.

The theme “Light of the Community” was coined from Marriott International’s theme: the “Paskonstelasyon” through its loyalty program, Marriott Bonvoy. Each day of the week, one Marriott International property in the Philippines lit up its lantern and Christmas tree to kick-start its celebration of the Yuletide season.

At the Sheraton Cebu Mactan Resort, the Christmas tree is embellished with the designs of Mactan’s shell craft community with each decor symbolizing different themes.

The starfishes being a resort element, the twigs and sheaths or the sinamay symbolizing the remnants of the challenges during the pandemic and super typhoon Odette, the circular urchins resembling the associates coming and working together, the shells representing the adopted communities, and the star lanterns symbolizing the first resort of Marriott International in the Philippines as the light of the community.

As the theme suggests, the event was focused on the talents the community has to offer. Serenading the guests were the Rondalla group of the Canjulao Elementary School. The Children’s Joy Foundation, one of Sheraton Cebu Mactan Resort’s adopted communities, also showcased their talents during the event. Homegrown associate-singers also rendered a song number.

Gracing the event were honorable guests, including Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan, the property owners of the AppleOne Mactan Inc., Ray Manigsaca and engineer Venus Manigsaca, Sheraton Cebu Mactan Resort’s general manager Dottie V. Wurgler-Cronin, and the director of operations Danish Khan.

This year, the Christmas tree lighting of Sheraton Cebu Mactan focused on its emphasis on community, one of its core values reflective of Marriott International’s brand value of putting people first.

This Christmas season, the property offers exclusive package deals for both walk-in and in-house guests at 5 Cien, a Christmas Eve lunch and dinner buffet and a lunch buffet on Christmas day. Companies and corporate clients may also celebrate their Christmas parties at Sheraton with specially-curated packages fit for an unforgettable Christmas experience.

Another thing to be excited about is the opening of the authentic Nikkei signature restaurant in Cebu, serving Japanese-Peruvian cuisine called DIP, which will serve a four-course set menu dinner for Christmas Eve and a four-course set menu for Christmas day lunch. (PR)
