THE Municipal Government of Consolacion is set to give cash assistance amounting to P100,000 to the bereaved family of Police SSgt. Careby-Clyde Alinsug, who was slain in an anti-narcotics operation on June 5, 2022.This after the Municipal Council adopted on Friday, June 17 the resolution of Councilor Marilou Casul to give monetary aid to the police officer’s family.In the resolution, the Municipal Government also extends its condolences to Alinsug’s family and it honors his service to Consolacion town as a police officer.Alinsug was killed on Sunday night, June 5, while conducting drug surveillance in Barangay Casili. A civilian informant was wounded.The alleged killer, Reynaldo “Tatskie” Ydil, was killed after he reportedly engaged the police who conducted a manhunt against him in Cebu City the following day. Ydil’s girlfriend and a motorcycle-for-hire driver were arrested by the police.Also on June 6, after the deaths of Alinsug and his killer, the Philippine National Police (PNP) recognized his bravery and genuine commitment to service. The Cebu Police Provincial Office also flew the Philippine flag at half-mast to mourn his passing.“The PNP family expresses its deepest condolences to the family of PSSg Alinsug, who has shown his allegiance to his country by faithfully fulfilling his duties as a law enforcer. He died while fighting criminality within the bounds of his duty. Rest assured that the PNP will give the necessary benefits to his bereaved family,” said PNP Officer-in-Charge Lt. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr.Consolacion Mayor Joannes “Joyjoy” Alegado was also saddened by Alinsug’s death.The outgoing local executive called the slain cop a good man and honored his work in protecting the community from criminal elements.Alegado also said that Alinsug’s death is an eye-opener for the municipality to even strengthen its campaign against illegal drugs.Alinsug was a nurse by profession but he chose to become a police officer to serve his country.The police officer was laid to rest on Saturday, June 18 at the Manila Memorial Park in Liloan, and was given the medal of valor, the highest award for bravery for a public safety officer.Alinsug left a wife and two children, ages two and four years old.
