SunStar Media Group calls for photo contributions on life, heroism in Cebu during Covid-19 pandemic

THE year 2020 ushered in a pandemic the scale of which has not been seen in a century.

Sars-CoV-2, the virus that causes coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), disrupted life as we know it as lockdowns and other restrictions were enforced to slow down the spread of the disease.

The SunStar Media Group aims to remember this extraordinary event by incorporating a Covid-19 photojournalistic essay in the Cebu Yearbook 2021 recounting the experiences as well as heroism displayed during the pandemic.

In line with this, everyone is invited to submit their best photos that tell the story of Covid-19 in Cebu through the “Eyes of Hope” photo campaign.

The photos may involve, but not be restricted to, such themes as the panic that ensued when the pandemic unfolded; frontliners in action; the unique summer of 2020; how learning, work and leisure evolved amid the quarantine; the expressions of faith and prayer during the quarantine; nongovernment organizations or other parties involved in acts of goodwill; the despair, struggles, losses and victories amid the pandemic; how Cebuanos adapted to the new normal.

Photos taken from January 2020 to March 2021 are eligible. Please email the high-resolution images to hrsunstarpublishing@gmail.com. The deadline for submissions is April 30, 2021.
