The Food Yard at IL Corso: A waterfront foodie haven in the south

Since it opened in 2019, IL Corso has become a go-to destination in the city for those looking for a quick escape from the urban chaos. Now, with the newly opened Food Yard, the Filinvest property satisfies the appetites of hungry Cebuanos and their clamor for something fresh and exciting in the local food scene amid this pandemic.

With its strategic seaside location and expansive area, the resort-style mall in the City di Mare community along SRP is most known for its al fresco dining outlets and wide jogging paths.

Bouncing back from this still-ongoing global crisis, IL Corso launched the Food Yard to revitalize the mall and increase foot traffic.

The Food Yard positions itself as a gastronomic destination by the sea — a showcase of local food trucks and vendors — where one can enjoy delicious food and fresh breeze in a safe outdoor setting.

Aside from IL Corso’s inline restaurants like Parilya, BubbleZ, Dessert Factory, Fishes and Chika-an sa Cebu, the Food Yard also includes Big Daddy Truck, MyJoy, Peoples Eat and Go Food Truck, Lamesa, Smiley Larsian by the Sea, Matana Cafe, Señora Sisig Bar and Chixboy. Humba Heaven and Ayer Lechon will be opening soon as well.

Aside from food, IL Corso has also lent its space for local makers and small entrepreneurs to sell their goods at the Sunset Pop-up Market on weekends. Here, you can shop boho-chic earrings from Deisenyo, locally made shoes from Vestía, organic skincare from The Soap Opera, healthy alternatives from The Good Basket, coffee by Brews & Bro’s Co., to name a few.

For fruits and vegetables, there is also a weekly Farmers Market where you can buy fresh produce at better prices while directly supporting our local farmers.

In compliance with IATF guidelines, wearing of face masks and face shields is required. Only guests 15-65 years old are allowed in the premises. Pets are welcome.

The Food Yard at IL Corso is open daily from 3 to 9 p.m. The Sunset Pop-up Market is open from Friday to Sunday, 4 to 8 p.m. The Farmers Market is open noon to 6 p.m. on Thursday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
