Town, city dads, VMs get cash gifts from Province

AFTER providing cash gifts to Cebu’s barangay chiefs last month, Governor Gwendolyn Garcia is again showering more cash gifts to another set of officials in the Province.

On Thursday, Dec. 1, 2022, Garcia gave P200,000 to each municipal and city councilors and P1 million each to vice mayors who attended the general assembly of the Philippine Councilors League (PCL) Cebu chapter.

According to Sugbo News, the Capitol’s information arm, the PCL general assembly was held at the Waterfront Hotel in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City.

Garcia, in his speech, urged town, city councilors and vice mayors to consolidate the assistance they will each receive so that they can fund certain infrastructure projects in their areas that will have a lasting effect.

“If only, with this appropriation for our councilors and vice-mayors, we can prove that together as one, united we can do so much more for Cebu and the Cebuanos,” Garcia added.

The general assembly was attended by the councilors from the different municipalities and cities in the Province led by its president, Toledo City Councilor Ricardo “Kuya Nick” Pepito, who is also an ex-officio member of the Cebu Provincial Board.

Department of Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco, Deputy Speaker Duke Frasco (Cebu, Fifth), Cebu Rep. Pablo John “PJ” Garcia (Cebu, Third), other board members and mayors also attended the event.

Garcia also gave P200,000 to the Province’s village chiefs and P2 million to each Association of Barangay Councils presidents during the year-end general assembly of the Liga ng mga Barangay sa Pilipinas Cebu chapter on Nov. 30. (JKV, PR)
