Utzurrum: IWCPI 57th National Conference; Hai Shin Lou dim sum delights

The International Inner Wheel (IIW) is the largest women’s service voluntary organization in the world. It is found in 104 countries with more than 112,245 members from 4,115 clubs worldwide with Great Britain as headquarters.

It was in June 1949 when the first batch of officers of the Association of the Inner Wheel Clubs of the Phils. were inducted with Trinidad Legarda as founder and first president.

The Associaton was incorporated and named Inner Wheel Clubs of the Phils. Inc. (IWCPI) in 1974, and it adopted a motto that expressed “Selflessness in Friendship and Service to Humanity.”

This year is of international significance to our country, with the IIW—led by its 56th president, Zenaida Y. Farcon, a Filipina and Southeast Asian. Today, IWCPI is composed of nine districts with more than 1,800 members countrywide, led by national president, Emily Q. Duterte.

Cebu is likewise in the limelight this week, as the National Conference will take place at Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino from Feb. 23 to 25. Of course, expect the usual conference highlights, business meetings, fellowships, etc.

Come one, come all!

Meanwhile at the Marco Polo Plaza Cebu, another kind of excitement is brewing at the distinctive Hai Shin Lou Chinese Restaurant with its melt-in-the-mouth dim sum dishes!

We sat in awe as each unique dish was presented with resto manager Ted Labajo Jr., and director of sales Lara Scarrow looking on.

Incidentally, we’d like to share a dimsum secret. No matter how small the serving appears, its delicious and compact ingredients are absolutely heaven to taste and stomach-satisfying.

Kudos to that culinary magician: The hotel’s executive chef Juanito Abangan and wok chefs: Darwin Tedranes and Ryan Cerera.

Try it to believe!
