Violence vs. women, children cases in CV drop

CASES of violence against women and children (VAWC) in Central Visayas have declined for the first quarter of 2022 compared to the same period last year.Data from the Regional Women and Children’s Protection Desk noted a decline of 64.44 percent in the total number of VAWC cases, with 629 cases for the first three months this year compared to 1,769 in the same period in 2021.Brigadier General Roque Eduardo Vega, head of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO 7), said the decrease in VAWC cases from January to March this year is attributed to their continuing collaboration with local government units to address these incidents.“The strict implementation of laws against women and children resulted in fewer cases of abuse of women and children in Central Visayas this year in collaboration with our local government units and our police women at the Women and Children Protection desks engaged in community development programs to address issues on gender equality and discuss women empowerment, especially in the provinces,” Vega added.Crime solution efficiencyOn its peace and order accomplishment from January to March this year, the PRO 7’s regional crime solution efficiency rate is at 52.82 percent, while its crime clearance efficiency rate is at 97.83 percent.The top three performing police offices in crime solution efficiency are Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) with 78.17 percent, Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) with 70.37 percent and Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO) with 55.29 percent.On crime clearance efficiency, the top performers are Siquijor Police Provincial Office 100 percent, followed by MCPO, CCPO and CPPO at second with 99.61 percent and Bohol Police Provincial Office at third with 99.09 percent.
