VVOC: 7 Metro Cebu LGUs eclipse combined daily jab traget again

SEVEN local government units (LGUs) in Metro Cebu were able to administer a combined 27,138 doses of Covid-19 vaccines on Thursday, July 29, 2021.

This was the third time that these LGUs administered doses beyond their combined daily target of 19,692 doses, according to the Visayas Covid-19 Vaccination Operations Center (VVOC).

Dr. Mary Jean Loreche, VVOC spokesperson, said the seven LGUs and the public-private initiative Project Balik Buhay (PBB) were able to administer 7,457 doses in Cebu City; 2,144 doses in Consolacion; 7,705 in Lapu-Lapu City; 5,089 in Mandaue City; 2,068 in Minglanilla; 1,053 in the City of Naga; and 1,622 in Talisay City.

These LGUs surpassed their combined daily target for the first time last Tuesday, July 27, after performing 20,846 jabs.

On Wednesday, July 28, the seven LGUs exceeded their combined daily target for the second time after administering 23,589 jabs.

Loreche, in her previous briefing, referred to these seven LGUs as Metro Cebu.

However, Metro Cebu is composed of 13 LGUs, and the other LGUs not mentioned by Loreche during her briefing were the component cities of Danao and Carcar; and the municipalities of Compostela, Liloan, Cordova and San Fernando.

Loreche said the vaccination accomplishments of the other six LGUs in Metro Cebu were recorded in the tally for Cebu Province.

As of Thursday, July 29, the seven LGUs had already administered a total of 344,193 doses as first dose and 126,650 doses as second dose.

The tri-cities of Cebu, Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu, Talisay City, City of Naga, Minglanilla and Consolacion combined have a total population of 2,479,248.

The total eligible population for vaccination is 1,735,474; however, only 1,312,366 residents were listed for vaccination.

As of July 23, the number of listed senior citizens in the seven LGUs was 159,711 out of the 209,568 identified senior citizens. Statistics show only 29,567 senior citizens have been fully vaccinated. (WBS)
