Yanong faces Le for WBC ABC Continental belt

BATTLE-SCARRED veteran Reymond Yanong tries his luck in winning a regional belt as he takes on unbeaten Chinese Le Quan Wang for the World Boxing Council Asian Boxing Council Continental super lightweight belt on Jan. 25 at the Spaceplus Bangkok RCA in Bangkok, Thailand.

Yanong has been campaigning internationally since 2019, fighting in Japan, US and South Africa. He’s 2-3 in his four-year international stint.

In 2019, Yanong scored a fifth-round upset of Ryuki Ishii in Japan. He then fought three times in the US in 2020, beating Clay Burns and losing to top-rated prospects Frank Martin and Genaro Gamez.

After a hiatus in 2021, the 29-year-old Yanong returned to action in 2022 and lost to Xolisani Ndongeni in South Africa.

Le fought just twice in the last two years. He scored a first-round knockout of Nuo Min in 2021 and then beat Zi Xiang Wang by unanimous decision in 2022.

This is Le’s first time fighting outside the comfort of China.

Yanong is 11-7-1 with nine knockouts, while Le is 7-0 with four knockouts.

In the main event, former world champion Sho Kimura (19-3-3, 12 KOs) challenges World Boxing Association International flyweight king Wulan Tuolehazi (15-4-1, 7 KOs). (EKA)
