Trump and Putin may meet as early as next week

A potential summit between Russian President Putin and former U.S. President Trump might occur as early as next week.

Sources close to the discussions revealed to news outlets that the summit could happen as soon as Monday, with one location being considered.

If the meeting is scheduled later in the week, Rome remains a possible option, although other nations are being considered in other regions.

However, the summit remains uncertain, as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has informed the U.S. that he will not cede any territory in a peace agreement with Russia, stating that only the Ukrainian parliament possesses the authority to do so.

A meeting between Putin and Trump would mark their first encounter since Trump’s return to office this year. It would represent a notable point in the three-year conflict, though there is no guarantee that such a meeting would bring an end to the hostilities, given the significant differences in demands between Russia and Ukraine.

When questioned by reporters at the White House about a possible location for the meeting, Trump did not respond. However, when asked about a summit with Putin and Zelenskyy, he stated that “there’s a very good prospect that they will” meet.

The former president refrained from estimating how close he was to achieving a deal to stop the conflict, saying, “I’ve been disappointed before with this one.”
