Zelenskyy rules out territorial concessions to Moscow for peace deal before Trump-Putin summit

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy declared on Saturday that Ukraine would not cede any land to Russia as part of a peace agreement, a statement made ahead of anticipated discussions between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin next week.

Through a video shared on his social media platforms also on Saturday, Zelenskyy discussed the ongoing conflict with Russia, asserting his readiness for an end to hostilities but emphasizing that Ukraine would not “gift” its territory to Moscow.

“The answer to the Ukrainian territorial question is already enshrined in the Constitution of Ukraine,” Zelenskyy stated. “No one will deviate from this—and no one will be able to. Ukrainians will not gift their land to the occupier.”

These comments from Zelenskyy follow remarks made by Trump at the White House on Friday, where the U.S. President suggested that a potential deal to conclude the war might involve a “swapping of territories.”
