In one of the most extensive overnight assaults since the conflict began, Russia launched approximately 614 drones, ballistic, and cruise missiles across , resulting in one death, dozens of injuries, and the destruction of an American-owned electronics company situated less than an hour from two NATO borders, officials confirmed Thursday morning.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the attack on the private U.S. company, which involved “several” cruise missiles, was “very telling” following President’s attempts to compel Moscow to end its invasion.
“Last night, the Russian army established one of its outrageous anti-records,” he declared. “They targeted civilian infrastructure facilities, residential buildings, and our people.”
“Multiple cruise missiles were launched against an American-owned enterprise in Zakarpattia,” he continued, describing the company as “a standard civilian business, supported by American investment, producing everyday items like coffee machines.”
“And yet, it was also a target for the Russians. This is very telling,” Zelenskyy added.
The American business, identified as Flex Ltd., with corporate headquarters in Austin, Texas, but with operational sites globally, confirmed to Digital that the facility exclusively produces civilian consumer goods.
“This facility does not produce, supply, or support any military equipment or defense-related components,” stated Teresa Pham-Carsillo, a spokesperson for the company.
Following the attack, she reported that “emergency protocols were executed” and the site was completely evacuated.
“A few employees and contractors sustained injuries, and six individuals remain hospitalized and are receiving medical care,” she added. “We are providing them and their families all necessary support during this difficult time.”
Pham-Carsillo confirmed that the extent of the damage is still undergoing assessment.
Approximately 15 people were reportedly injured in the strike on the city of Mukachevo in the Zakarpattia region, which lies merely 30 miles from Hungary and Slovakia.
Flex Ltd. did not immediately respond to Digital’s inquiries.
The overnight strike comprised 574 drones and 40 missiles, impacting numerous locations across Ukraine.
The also did not promptly respond to Digital’s questions concerning the president’s reaction to the strike that targeted a U.S. company, though on Tuesday he remarked, “It’s possible that [Putin] doesn’t want to make a deal.”
“We will learn about President Putin in the coming weeks,” he further added.
NATO leaders have repeatedly questioned Putin’s readiness to engage in good-faith negotiations as well as his desire to end his military ambitions – uncertainties that gained little clarity even after Trump’s in-person meeting with the Kremlin chief in Alaska on Friday.
France – which has become a key player supporting Ukraine – on Thursday reiterated this point, and in a statement to Digital, indicated that despite claims of being “ready to negotiate,” the overnight strikes suggest otherwise.
“These attacks, the most massive in a month, illustrate Russia’s lack of any genuine intention to engage seriously in peace talks,” a spokesperson with the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs told Digital.
“France reiterates its support for President Trump’s initiative in favor of a just and lasting peace and will continue to work with determination alongside Ukraine and its partners,” the spokesperson concluded.
