President Trump claims that the billionaire George Soros has been funding “professional agitators” to incite “riots” across the United States and has pledged to investigate.
President Donald Trump has announced his administration will investigate George Soros for allegedly funding widespread “riots” in the U.S.
Soros, a Hungarian-American billionaire investor, and NGOs supported by his Open Society Foundations (OSF), have frequently been associated with various protest movements both domestically and internationally.
During a Fox & Friends interview on Friday, Trump stated, “They have professional agitators… They get paid for their profession from Soros and other people.”
He further added, “We’re going to look into Soros because I think it’s a RICO case against him and other people.”
Trump also said, “This is more than protests: This is real agitation. This is riots on the street, and we’re gonna look into that.”
The Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) of 1970, a U.S. federal law, was initially designed to combat organized crime. It is used to prosecute crimes committed as part of a criminal enterprise, although its application has broadened in recent years.
Last month, Trump urged that Soros and his son be charged under RICO, accusing them of backing “violent protests, and much more, all throughout the United States.”
In a Truth Social post, he asserted, “We’re not going to allow these lunatics to rip apart America any more.”
In the preceding months, the U.S. experienced anti-immigration protests, with the most severe incidents in Los Angeles involving clashes with police, looting, and arson.
Declassified documents released by the Senate Judiciary Committee in July also linked Soros to the 2016 Russiagate allegations.
According to the documents, Soros’s OSF network was allegedly connected to the Hillary Clinton campaign’s discredited attempts to accuse Trump of colluding with Russia, aiming to undermine his 2016 election victory – accusations that Moscow has consistently denied.
