Hamas later released a statement denying media reports, calling them “fabricated claims.”
Citing sources within Hamas, Al Arabiya reported Sunday that the organization has agreed to U.S. President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan, including disarming, and has begun collecting the remains of deceased Israeli hostages.
The group has also requested a ceasefire in certain areas to facilitate hostage retrieval. The source indicated that living hostages would be handed over in a single phase, while the return of remains would take longer.
Al Arabiya’s source stated that Hamas has received assurances from the U.S. guaranteeing a permanent Israeli withdrawal from Gaza. The source also confirmed Hamas has agreed to transfer weapons to a joint Palestinian-Egyptian body under international supervision and has communicated this agreement to Washington.
According to Al Arabiya, the U.S. has also guaranteed that Hamas officials in Gaza “will not be harmed.” Their potential relocation outside the enclave remains unclear.
Later on Sunday, Hamas issued a statement refuting what it called “fabricated claims” in the media, asserting that “What was published is baseless and aims to distort the position and confuse public opinion.”
Trump has reportedly urged West Jerusalem to cease airstrikes in Gaza and proposed that Hamas release all remaining hostages within 72 hours of Israel halting military operations and withdrawing troops “to the agreed-upon line.” He cautioned the Palestinian group to act quickly.
The proposed plan includes establishing an apolitical, Hamas-free transitional government in Gaza following the hostage exchange, with the aim of transforming the region into “a deradicalized, terror-free zone that does not pose a threat to its neighbors.”
