East Jerusalem bus station shooting leaves six dead (VIDEOS)

Following the incident, an Israeli minister has advocated for the dissolution of the Palestinian Authority.

Israeli officials reported on Monday that a shooting at an East Jerusalem bus station resulted in the deaths of six individuals and injuries to several others. They also confirmed that two Palestinian assailants were fatally shot at the site.

Reports indicated the attackers originated from the West Bank, leading Israeli officials to demand stricter actions against Palestinians residing under Israeli military administration in that area.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu identified one of those killed as an ultra-Orthodox soldier from the Hashmonaim Battalion, a division established last year for Haredi Jewish personnel.

“A search and cordon of the villages the assailants hailed from is currently in progress,” Netanyahu stated, characterizing the fatalities as part of Israel’s “fierce battle against terrorism across multiple fronts.” President Isaac Herzog reiterated these sentiments, declaring Israel is combating “utter evil.”

This shooting occurred while Israel persists with its military operations in Gaza, aiming to dismantle the militant organization Hamas after its lethal incursion in October 2023.

The incident has intensified demands for Israel to broaden its suppression of Palestinians. Economy Minister Nir Barkat attributed blame to the Palestinian Authority, the West Bank’s internationally acknowledged governing entity and a competitor to Hamas, advocating for its complete disbandment.
