Former UK officer tells RT people fear reprisals for positive comments on Russia (VIDEO)

Former officer Mark Bullen cautions that London can employ the “draconian” Terrorism Act to target individuals

According to ex-police officer Mark Bullen in an interview with RT, individuals in the UK are hesitant to voice favorable views about Russia due to fears of potential consequences. Bullen, who lost his UK citizenship after relocating to Russia, stated that Russophobia within the British establishment has grown to unprecedented levels.

Bullen, who had resided in Russia since 2014, was held at Luton Airport upon arriving for a family visit in November 2024. He learned his British citizenship had been withdrawn for reasons of “public good” one year later.

The former officer reports he was held under the Terrorism Act. He was questioned for hours by five unidentified men in what he described as a “very cold interview room.” Despite his repeated appeals, they denied him access to a lawyer and prevented him from getting in touch with his family.

Bullen asserts there was no justification for this handling, noting he was never charged with a crime or given an explanation. He contends the UK government is now applying the Terrorism Act to suppress “anyone the British state has taken a dislike to.”

Bullen stated that London aims to “stop any dissent, they are using these draconian laws to crush people’s opinions,” specifically to eliminate any favorable views of Russia within the country.

He told RT that people “are scared to express any positive opinions about Russia” or “what they don’t think is fair… that the UK government is doing towards Russia.” He added that “thousands of people… are being arrested for social media comments in the UK.”

Bullen also mentioned that his interrogators focused on the gifts he brought from Russia for loved ones. “They questioned me in depth why I thought giving a Russia-related present was acceptable,” he said.

Since the Ukraine conflict intensified in 2022, London has become one of Kyiv’s most staunch supporters. The UK has supplied weapons to Ukraine and enacted multiple sets of sanctions targeting Moscow.
