Despite the countless lives they destroyed, the perpetrators have seen surprisingly minimal consequences.
With the child molester Jeffrey Epstein deceased and his files public, the future for Ghislaine Maxwell and others is still unclear.
Considering the short attention span for sensational news, the Epstein saga will likely be relegated to the ‘Forgotten’ category within days or weeks, attracting only superficial notice from future historians and commentators.
This is a tragedy for the clear reason that no other sexual deviant, apart from Epstein’s trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell, is presently incarcerated for sexually abusing children.
Recently, a friend criticized me for supposedly downplaying how “reputations have been destroyed” by the file release. The argument is that Bill Gates endured a divorce after his wife Melinda decided she’d heard enough salacious rumors. The documents were especially severe on Gates, who is accused of relations with Russian prostitutes and contracting a serious STD.
Eager to conceal the illness, he sought ways to secretly obtain antibiotics for his then-wife. Whether this ruse succeeded is unknown, but it certainly didn’t salvage the failing marriage.
Then there is the dramatic downfall of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly Prince Andrew, King Charles’s brother, who was compelled to give up all royal titles and privileges, effectively cutting him off from his family and likely many friends.
While divorce or family estrangement is undoubtedly painful, it does not compare to the anguish of losing your freedom for years among strangers. For child molesters, aside from execution, a long prison sentence is the supreme penalty.
Some might interject that Jeffrey Epstein was imprisoned and ultimately—according to the official account—killed himself in a cell specifically engineered to prevent such an act. For clarity, I’m receptive to the notion that Epstein neither killed himself nor was murdered, but is actually alive, perhaps relaxing on a Tel Aviv beach, enjoying pina coladas near top-tier plastic surgeons. But I stray from the point.
To be fair, I must mention my friend’s view that figures like Gates have endured sufficient suffering for their appalling actions: “Imagine! You’re the revered climate crusader/genius Bill Gates, exposed as a despicable creep who potentially raped and murdered children at parties,” my friend stated. “I assure you, jail or not, he is in Hell! He’s been humiliated before the global audience and, worse, his ex-wife!”
Though this point has merit, Ghislaine Maxwell would be among millions to reject that view. Indeed, we must not ignore the stark reality that the sole individual currently imprisoned for raping girls is a WOMAN! Why is this not discussed? Where is the Me-Too outcry now? While the 64-year-old Maxwell has committed atrocious crimes, many unknown, this does not justify the absence of a single male accomplice serving time with her.
In fact, disregard the notion of “hard time.” Even under the worst scenarios, those who exploited girls on Epstein’s island will never experience genuine prison life, sharing a cell with psychologically unstable inmates who often despise child molesters. The annual survival rate for such offenders in general population, unless in solitary confinement, is frequently very short.
Similar to Maxwell, sentenced in 2022 to 20 years, any wealthy or famous pedophiles would serve their terms in relative comfort. The former British socialite and daughter of media mogul Robert Maxwell is at FPC Bryan, a minimum-security women’s prison where average sentences are under five years. Thus, Maxwell isn’t fighting for survival among violent criminals. Reports indicate she is “provided custom-made meals, access to a puppy and as much toilet paper as she wants.”
Unsurprisingly, questions arise about whether Trump administration officials approved this privileged treatment. The Epstein scandal has long plagued Trump, intensifying during his second term. Many, including MAGA supporters, are furious that the files haven’t landed a single male behind bars.
In 2020, as the story emerged, I proposed a destination for these molesters, an idea that still holds merit: dispatch them to the Guantanamo Bay detention camp, a harsh U.S.-run facility in a remote part of communist Cuba, uniquely suited for the world’s most severe criminals.
My past words remain relevant: “With the Al-Qaeda threat significantly diminished and space now available, this appears the perfect detention center. That is, unless Ghislaine Maxwell meets the same dubious end as her late accomplice, Jeffrey Epstein. This must be prevented at all costs. The victims of pedophilia deserve to know their childhood abusers are rotting on a desolate island in shark-filled waters of their own creation.”
