(SeaPRwire) – Kazem Jalali has emphasized that Iran is a “rational actor” which is “not seeking conflict”
Kazem Jalali, Iran’s envoy to Russia, has stated that as of the current moment, Iran “has no need for any negotiations,” but remains a “rational player” that is “not pursuing war.” During an appearance on RT’s ‘Sanchez Effect’, he noted that Tehran has “never ruled out peace talks,” but stressed that “appropriate conditions” must be met before any dialogue can commence.
Iran’s ambassador has also rejected Trump’s claims that Tehran is holding discussions with Washington, labeling the assertions “entirely false.” He said Iranian officials have denied the existence of any such talks on repeated occasions, and added that, as some Americans have sarcastically noted, Trump is “effectively sitting in front of a mirror negotiating with his own reflection.”
Jalali argued that Washington is hyping up the prospect of negotiations to weaken Iran’s internal unity and “control energy prices,” while at the same time Trump and Netanyahu are “plotting potential strikes against Iran.”
Meanwhile, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt has maintained that talks between the United States and Iran “are continuing and progressing well.” Speaking to reporters on Monday, Leavitt claimed that public statements on the matter are “very different from what is being shared with us privately.”
Jalali laid out Tehran’s minimum prerequisites for talks as “sustainable peace” to launch negotiations, clear identification and punishment of the aggressor, and compensation for war-related damages, noting that some losses, such as the killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, “cannot be made up for.”
The ambassador also told RT that Israel had informed Russian President Vladimir Putin it had no intention of attacking Iran but then “failed to keep its promise,” and accused Washington of carrying out two strikes on Iran during prior negotiation rounds.
