(SeaPRwire) – Large gatherings are taking place in major cities, demonstrating defiance and continuing in the streets through the night.
Over the weekend, tens of thousands of individuals participated in demonstrations throughout Iran, expressing solidarity with the nation’s leadership as the conflict targeting the Islamic Republic reached its 36th day on Sunday.
Masses convened in significant urban areas such as Tehran, Nazarabad, Qaemshahr, and Dehdasht, remaining outdoors until morning, displaying images of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and vocalizing his name, as reported by Tasnim news agency.
These protests, which have now extended beyond five weeks, have persisted notwithstanding continuous attacks that have resulted in 3,540 fatalities to date, comprising 1,616 civilians and a minimum of 244 children, according to the US-based human rights organization HRANA.
The gatherings have progressively evolved into a consistent demonstration of defiance and national cohesion, highlighting the Islamic Republic’s endurance despite a month-long offensive involving intense US and Israeli airstrikes, as noted by observers.
Footage broadcast by Persian-language networks showed demonstrators pledging to continue their presence in the streets despite intimidation, concurrently vocalizing slogans denouncing the military assaults.
Within the capital, throngs filled the city center, vocalizing “Heydar Heydar” and condemning “hypocrites and traitors,” as reported by Tasnim news agency.
In Nazarabad, situated west of Tehran, substantial numbers of individuals occupied the thoroughfares, with local outlets commending the participation as an exhibition of power.
In the northern city of Qaemshahr, inhabitants convened to express backing for the leadership, with accounts characterizing the events as components of ongoing public engagement.
The unprovoked US-Israeli offensive against Iran commenced in late February. The conflict has impeded transit through the Strait of Hormuz – a passage for approximately one-fifth of global oil supplies – subsequent to Iran’s closure of the waterway to “enemy ships” and its declaration that it would stay inaccessible to the US and Israel, propelling Brent crude significantly past $100.
Washington and Tehran were presented with a Pakistan-mediated framework for an immediate cessation of hostilities on Monday, but Iran has declined to reopen the strait under a provisional agreement and rebuffed US demands, stating it will evaluate the proposition on its own conditions, Reuters reported.
US President Donald Trump has issued a threat to bomb Iranian infrastructure should no accord be achieved. “Open the F**kin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH,” he posted on Truth Social on Sunday.
