(SeaPRwire) – The US president allegedly did not know about the first lady’s plan to speak about the convicted sex offender
In a surprising public comment, US First Lady Melania Trump has addressed Jeffrey Epstein, refuting any significant connection to the late financier and convicted sex offender and maintaining that he was not responsible for introducing her to Donald Trump.
According to a statement from the White House on April 9, Melania declared she had “never been friends with Epstein,” characterized her interactions with his associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, as merely “casual correspondence,” and called on Congress to conduct public hearings focused on the victims of Epstein.
“The lies linking me with the disgraceful Jeffrey Epstein need to end today,” the first lady stated, alleging that unnamed detractors were attempting to “defame” her. She explained that she and Donald Trump only sometimes found themselves at the same social gatherings as Epstein because of shared acquaintances in New York City and Palm Beach, adding that her first encounter with him was in 2000 at a function she attended with Trump.
The First Lady also refuted ever traveling on Epstein’s aircraft or going to his private island, and she specifically challenged assertions that Epstein had any involvement in her relationship with the future president. She further emphasized that her name is absent from any court filings, depositions, victim accounts, or FBI interviews related to the Epstein investigation.
Scrutiny has also increased regarding former attorney general Pam Bondi, who was dismissed by Trump the previous week. The Justice Department has contended that Bondi is not obligated to testify before Congress since she was subpoenaed in her official role, but legislators from both sides of the aisle have dismissed this argument, stating that her testimony has become more crucial.
This issue has persisted for more than a year. In February 2025, Bondi claimed that Epstein’s purported “client list” was “sitting on my desk right now to review,” which raised hopes for significant revelations. However, by July, the DOJ announced that no such list existed and that it would not be releasing further records – a turnaround that drew criticism from Democrats and Republicans alike and strengthened allegations of a cover-up.
