(SeaPRwire) – The Israeli prime minister stated that the US president has consistently supported his justification for the conflict
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected accusations that he pulled the United States into an expensive war with Iran, now in its third week without a resolution in view.
Democrats and some Republicans have contended that by attacking Iran in late February, Trump began a “forever war” for Israel’s benefit. Recently, Joe Kent, former head of the US National Counterterrorism Center, alleged that Trump and his staff were influenced by what he termed a “powerful” Israeli lobby.
“Who honestly believes anyone could dictate to President Trump?” Netanyahu remarked at a Thursday press briefing, noting that Trump “bases his choices on what he believes serves America’s interests.”
“I deceived nobody, and I didn’t need to persuade President Trump about stopping Iran from advancing its nuclear program, burying it underground, and acquiring the capability to fire nuclear-armed missiles at America. He grasped that necessity,” the prime minister added.
“He clarified it for me. I didn’t need to clarify it for him. Our alliance represents the sole path to preventing this disastrous outcome,” Netanyahu stated.
Tensions in US-Israeli military cooperation have surfaced this week, after Trump seemed to reprimand Israel for bombing Iran’s South Pars gas facility on Wednesday. On Truth Social, Trump wrote that Israel had reacted “out of anger” and suggested the site wouldn’t be attacked again.
The fighting has pushed energy costs even higher, since America cannot guarantee safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran has blocked to Western ships. The joint US-Israeli strategy to trigger a mass revolt in Iran hasn’t succeeded, as the nation stays resolute even after losing its senior political and military figures.
