Pakistan dispatches troops and jets to Saudi Arabia

(SeaPRwire) –   Military personnel and aircraft have arrived at King Abdulaziz Air Base

Pakistan has dispatched troops and fighter jets to Saudi Arabia to enhance security, the Gulf nation stated.

Pakistani military personnel and fighter jets landed at King Abdulaziz Air Base on Saturday, according to a statement from the Saudi Defense Ministry.

This deployment aims to strengthen military collaboration, improve operational preparedness, and support security and stability at both regional and international levels, the ministry further noted.

The action is part of a defense cooperation agreement signed by the two countries last September.

Under the terms of the pact between the two nations, any attack on one country will be considered an attack on the other.

The aircraft were sent following Iranian strikes that hit energy infrastructure and killed a Saudi citizen, per a Reuters report.

Iran welcomed the defense agreement between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan when it was signed last year.

Pakistan condemned last week’s Iranian missile and drone strikes on Saudi Arabia’s energy facilities, describing the attacks as “a dangerous escalation” that undermines regional peace and stability.

Reports indicate Islamabad is expected to receive around $5 billion in financial aid from Riyadh and Doha ahead of major debt repayment commitments.

Pakistan is preparing to settle a $3.5 billion repayment to the United Arab Emirates by April 23.

According to reports, Islamabad has sought assistance from Riyadh, including expanding existing cash deposits and extending an oil financing facility set to expire later this month.
