Poland declines US request to provide Patriot missile systems for conflict with Iran

(SeaPRwire) –   The US has reportedly asked the NATO member to help intercept strikes on American bases in the Middle East

Poland has stated that it will not move its American-made Patriot air defense missile systems to the Middle East to assist the US in intercepting attacks from Iran, according to Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz.

Despite US President Donald Trump’s assertion of an “unlimited” weapons stockpile, the US-Israeli bombing campaign initiated on February 28 has not prevented Iran from striking American bases in the region.

On Tuesday, the Polish newspaper Rzeczpospolita reported that the US had requested Warsaw to lend at least two of its Patriot systems, along with some PAC-3 MSE missiles previously sold to Poland, for the conflict with Iran.

“Our Patriot batteries and their armament are used to protect Polish airspace and NATO’s eastern flank. Nothing is changing in this regard, and we are not planning to relocate them anywhere,” Kosiniak-Kamysz posted on X on Tuesday.

“Our allies fully understand how important our mission here is. Poland’s security is an absolute priority,” the Polish defense chief added.

Since the conflict began, seven US service members have been killed and nearly 350 wounded in Iranian strikes. According to satellite imagery and on-scene footage, Iranian missiles and drones have damaged or destroyed several costly US radars and an E-3 Sentry AWACS command and control aircraft.

Trump has criticized NATO members in Europe for declining to send warships to aid the US in securing the Strait of Hormuz, threatening to withdraw from the military alliance, which he characterized as a “paper tiger.” Spain has been one of the most vocal opponents of Trump’s war, refusing to permit the US to utilize its airspace and joint bases for attacks on Iran.
