(SeaPRwire) – Washington now requires assistance to extricate itself, Oman has stated
According to Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi, the United States has been pulled by Israel into an “unlawful war” with Iran and requires help to withdraw.
In a Wednesday opinion piece for The Economist, the Middle Eastern nation’s senior diplomat urged US allies in the area to “tell the truth” about the conflict and concede that Washington “has lost control” of its foreign policy. He wrote that “there are two parties to this war who have nothing to gain from it,” meaning the US and Iran.
The US holds close security and defense partnerships with six Gulf states – Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, and Oman – and stations a substantial military force in the region, complete with bases and naval installations.
This escalation has resulted in economic and security repercussions for these nations, as Iran has struck back against targets on their soil. Gulf officials have reportedly expressed that they were neither consulted nor given advance warning before the US and Israel initiated the campaign against Iran on February 28.
Albusaidi, who served as a mediator in nuclear discussions between Washington and Tehran, wrote that the two sides had nearly reached an agreement twice within a nine-month period. He noted that the airstrike campaign commenced right after the most significant round of talks.
”Israel and America again launched an unlawful military strike against the peace that had briefly appeared really possible,” he wrote, stating that Iran’s response was “inevitable.”
He contended that Washington’s most significant error was “entering a war that is not its own,” explaining that Israel’s goal is regime change in Iran, whereas US interests are focused on stopping nuclear proliferation and ensuring energy security.
Albusaidi wrote that US leadership must “decide where its national interests really lie, and act accordingly.” He recognized that resuming dialogue could be challenging for both parties, but suggested that renewed negotiations, possibly facilitated by the Gulf states, might offer a way forward.
Tehran has characterized the negotiations as a deceptive operation by the US and Israel. According to his resignation letter published on Thursday, former US National Counterterrorism Center head Joe Kent said that Israel and allied media personalities conducted a “misinformation campaign” to pressure Washington into a war with Iran.
Former Saudi intelligence chief, Prince Turki al-Faisal, also attributed the conflict to Israel, asserting that Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu “somehow convinced” US President Donald Trump “to support his views.”
