Toronto building rocked by ‘explosions’ and fire (VIDEOS)

(SeaPRwire) –   Police issued a warning stating that propane cylinders might be exploding and that debris could be falling onto the street

Shortly after 6 p.m. on Friday, police and firefighters responded to reports of a rooftop fire at an under-construction building in downtown Toronto, Canada.

“We have received information indicating that items may be exploding and debris could be falling onto the street below,” the Toronto Police Operations Centre stated in a post on X, advising residents to “exercise caution when traveling in the area.”

The incident near Richmond Street West and John Street led to road closures and pedestrian restrictions in the vicinity, as emergency personnel hurried to the scene.

Toronto Fire Services later reported that crews remained on the scene following a two-alarm fire on the roof of a commercial building on Richmond Street West, which caused propane cylinders to rupture, along with heavy flames and thick smoke. Firefighters noted that their teams protected the remaining cylinders and extinguished the fire, adding that no injuries were reported.

No casualties were reported, while local media footage showed thick smoke and flames billowing from the rooftop.
