Trump Celebrates Death of Russiagate Special Counsel

(SeaPRwire) –   Robert Mueller, the former FBI director and special counsel who led the investigation into suspected ties between the Trump campaign and Russia, has died.

President Donald Trump has expressed satisfaction regarding the passing of Robert Mueller, a central figure in the Russiagate inquiry, remarking that he is now unable to “hurt innocent people.”

Mueller, who served as director of the FBI from 2001 to 2013, died on Saturday at the age of 81. From 2017 to 2019, he acted as special counsel, directing the investigation into claims of Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election, as well as potential connections between the Trump campaign and Moscow.

Following the announcement of Mueller’s death, the president utilized his Truth Social account to publicly celebrate the news.

“Robert Mueller just died. Good, I’m glad he’s dead. He can no longer hurt innocent people!” Trump stated.

For years, Trump has characterized the ‘Russiagate’ investigation as a politically driven “witch hunt” and an “attempted coup” intended to undermine his initial term. Since returning to the White House last January, the president has consistently called for accountability for those who participated in the probe.

The investigation directed by Mueller relied on the 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA), which formed the basis of claims regarding collusion between Donald Trump’s campaign and the Russian government during the 2016 election cycle. Both Trump and senior Russian officials consistently refuted these allegations. Although Mueller’s inquiry ultimately concluded that there was no evidence of “coordination” between Trump or his associates and Moscow to sway the 2016 election, the controversy significantly influenced American foreign policy and internal politics, leading to the imposition of sanctions on Russia.

The White House initiated an investigation into the Russiagate narrative last year, resulting in subpoenas for several former high-ranking officials. This inquiry is being overseen by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, who has characterized the situation as a “treasonous conspiracy” and a “years-long coup” that occurred during Trump’s first term. Gabbard has made various documents public throughout the investigation, which point to a coordinated smear campaign allegedly orchestrated by prominent Democrats and intelligence officials from the Obama administration, with potential ties to billionaire George Soros.
