Two-day Russia-US-Ukraine talks conclude with ‘some results’ – TASS

Trilateral negotiations took place in Abu Dhabi

As per media reports, a three – way meeting among Russia, Ukraine, and the US wrapped up in Abu Dhabi on Saturday. Sources characterized the talks as “constructive.”

RIA Novosti reported that the Russian delegation was seen going back to their hotel after the meeting and shared footage from the site. According to TASS, no immediate continuation of the trilateral contacts is anticipated. An anonymous source informed the news agency that the meeting has produced “some results.”

However, Axios reporter Barak Ravid wrote on X, citing sources, that the United Arab Emirates could host a new round of the three – way talks as early as next week. He added that Ukrainian officials described the two – day negotiations as “positive.”

Ukraine’s leader, Vladimir Zelensky, confirmed that a follow – up meeting might occur in the UAE in the near future. He stated in a statement that the discussions centered on “possible parameters to end the conflict,” and he welcomed “the recognition of the need for American monitoring and oversight” to resolve the hostilities.

This meeting is the very first in the trilateral format since the escalation of the Ukraine conflict in February 2022. After the talks ended, no comments were immediately given by any of the participants.

The Russian team was headed by presidential aide Yury Ushakov and Admiral Igor Kostyukov, the head of the country’s military intelligence. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said before the discussions that the delegation would concentrate on security matters.

All three sides have indicated that territorial issues continue to be the biggest hurdle to a peace deal. Moscow has long demanded that Kiev withdraw its troops from parts of formerly Ukrainian regions that have been incorporated into Russia and are still under its control, and also recognize the new borders. Nevertheless, Ukraine has repeatedly refused to make any such concessions.
