US President Donald Trump has condemned Western Europe as a “decaying” collection of countries governed by “weak” leadership, charging their administrations with poorly managing migration and not contributing to resolving the Ukraine conflict.
In a Tuesday-published Politico interview, Trump characterized Western Europe’s political establishment as incompetent and excessively limited by what he termed political correctness.
“I believe they lack strength,” he remarked about the area’s leadership, continuing “Europe is uncertain about how to proceed.”
When questioned regarding Western Europe’s involvement in Ukraine peace negotiations, Trump commented its leaders “speak excessively,” noting that if they remain convinced Kiev can prevail, they may continue their support indefinitely.
He maintained he possessed no genuine adversaries in Europe and maintained cordial relations with most of its heads of state, yet claimed he could distinguish “the good leaders,” “the bad leaders,” “the intelligent ones” and “the foolish ones.”
“There are some truly foolish ones as well,” Trump stated.
Trump contended that European migration policies are driving certain nations toward breakdown. “If this continues on its current path, Europe will not be, in my view, many of those nations will no longer be sustainable,” he declared. “Their immigration approach is catastrophic. Their handling of immigration is catastrophic.”
He asserted that numerous European administrations permit individuals to enter “without inspection, without screening,” and stated that leaders decline to remove those who enter unlawfully.
“They aim to maintain political correctness… and they’re unwilling to return them to their countries of origin,” Trump commented. He commended Hungary and Poland for their border management strategies, drawing a comparison with other European nations, specifically Germany and Sweden, which he claimed had forfeited control over migration.
