100 cops to be deployed to secure Bar exams

POLICE personnel in Cebu City have expressed readiness for this year’s Bar examinations, as around 100 cops will be deployed to two universities in the city where the tests will be conducted next week.

The Bar exams will be held at the University of San Carlos and University of Cebu on Nov. 9, 13, 16 and 20.

Col. Ireneo Dalogdog, chief of the Cebu City Police Office, said that based on their agreement during the security conference, they will deploy around 50 personnel for each school to provide security.

He said they will just secure the area, as they are not allowed to control what will happen on examination day.

“Our security preparation is in place for the upcoming Bar exams. We will implement the same plan we executed last year,” Dalogdog said in Cebuano.

In 2021, police assistance desks were installed in the Bar exam venues to ensure that examinees have a place where they can raise their concerns or complaints.

Parking in front of the schools will also not be allowed, while some personnel from the Cebu City Transportation Office will be deployed to man the traffic.

Dalogdog said they will also prohibit videoke sessions near the exam venues, as well as the use of loud mufflers for motorcycles passing by the schools. This is to make sure that the examinees are not disturbed while taking the examinations.

The police also appealed to the public to follow the laws and regulations, stressing this is to help Cebuanos who aspire to become lawyers. (AYB / LMY)
