TWO men met their untimely end in separate road accidents that occurred in two areas in southern Cebu on Thursday, June 16, 2022.In Carcar City, a 56-year-old man was killed after a motorcycle hit him while he was riding his bike at Barangay Poblacion 3 at around 7:30 a.m. on Thursday.PO1 Jerome Palao of the Carcar City Police Station identified the victim as Eduardo Kyamko, a resident of San Jose Street in Barangay Poblacion 1, in the same city.Palao told SunStar Cebu that Kyamco was riding his bike along the national highway when he was suddenly sideswiped by a while motorcycle.Police have yet to determine the identity of the driver who sideswiped Kyamco as he immediately left the scene just before first responders could get there.Kyamko reportedly sustained head injuries after falling into the concrete pavement.A rescue team from the city’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office brought Kyamko to the Cebu Provincial Hospital in Carcar City and later transferred him to a hospital in Cebu City, where he died at around noon time on the same day.Kyamko’s family had initially advised him to not ride a bicycle but continued to persist as it was his only form of exercise.Badian accidentHours later, a 27-year-old man died after his motorcycle collided head-on with a tricycle in Barangay Ginablan in Badian town.Lt. Etelberto Timagos, Badian town police chief, identified the victim as Hadrian Jade Manlunas Leceña, a resident of Barangay Montañeza in Malabuyoc, southwest Cebu.Police also arrested Samuel Cauba Tabanao, 45, the driver of the tricycle.Based on an initial investigation, police found that Leceña and Tabanao encountered each other on a curved road in Ginablan around 1:20 p.m. on Thursday.Leceña reportedly lost control of his motorcycle while maneuvering a curve and collided with the tricycle driven by Tabanao from the opposite direction.Leceña sustained several injuries after falling into the concrete pavement.He was brought by the municipality’s rescue team to Badian District Hospital but died a few hours later.Tabanao is currently detained at the Badian Police Station and will be facing charges of Reckless Imprudence Resulting to Homicide and Damage to Property.
