Aljur, Cindy show chemistry in upcoming sexy film ‘Nerisa’

THE pandemic has seemingly changed the landscape of movie-making. Since the beginning of city-wide lockdowns, some people have ticked off boredom by watching movies or series on different streaming platforms.

Among the popular genres that have boomed during this pandemic are sexy films. From popular titles such as the “Fifty Shades” trilogy, “Sex/Life,” “Elite” and a whole lot more, sexy shows are trending. With the Philippines’ film industry aiming to compete globally, Viva Films, for one, is set to premiere another sexy film, this time entitled “Nerisa.”

The movie tells the story of Nerisa (Cindy Miranda), a woman who mysteriously floats ashore on an island. She is saved by a fisherman named Obet (Aljur Abrenica). They fall in love and get married.

Their blissful life as a married couple is disrupted when Obet and fellow fishermen encounter a boat accident. Nerisa gets blamed as the cause of the misfortune. Nerisa feels her husband is still alive and will do whatever she can, even offering her body, to get him back.

Director Lawrence Fajardo admitted that doing the movie was a bit of a challenge since he had to make sure to do it with utmost sensitivity. He is glad that the movie turned out perfectly well with the cast’s flexibility, in spite of their being relatively new in the acting world.

Cindy revealed that she had difficulty playing the role even after doing her previous sexy film, “Adan,” where she played a lesbian. She admitted that doing delicate scenes with Aljur was a bit scary.

“It’s different. Aljur and I are a married couple here, so we need to show the love that wedded couples have. It needs to be pure, to really show how much you love the person, and show that he’s your world. That’s what we need to let them see,” Cindy said. The actress was confident that they did the scenes successfully and made them look real. She also thanked Aljur for being very professional and said she felt safe and comfortable with him.

Joining the cast is Sheree Bautista, who considers her role a game-changer in her career. She plays a sex worker on the island. This will be Bautista’s first time to do frontal nudity for a film, but she never hesitated to accept the role as she was already preparing for it.

“Showing sexiness made my character very important in the movie. It’s not just a bit—it’s a lot actually. But I don’t regret doing it. I’m even very happy I got the character,” Bautista said.

Completing the film are AJ Raval as Lilet, who dreams of leaving the island and living in the city; Elizabeth Oropesa as Segunda, the mother figure of Obet who serves as the island’s eye of morality; Bembol Roco as Badong, the father figure of Obet and adviser of the fisherfolk; Gwen Garci as Merced, an ally of Segunda; Sean de Guzman as Michael, the rich youth leader; and Guji Lorenzana as the coast guard officer.

Catch “Nerisa” this July 30 on Vivamax.
