WITH the summer vacation just right around the corner, officials of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) are anticipating an increased influx of local and foreign tourists now that the city is under Alert Level 1 from March 16 to 31, 2022.The CCPO will thus implement “Oplan Sumvac” or Operation Summer Vacation to ensure that local and foreign tourists are not victimized by criminals.Lt. Col. Wilbert Parilla, CCPO’s deputy director for operations, said they will deploy personnel from their Tourism Police Unit in different tourist spots in the city including Plaza Independencia, Fort San Pedro, Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño, Magellan’s Cross and sites located in the city’s upland areas to ensure the safety of tourists going there.Parilla said with Cebu City now under Alert Level 1, they anticipate the arrival not only of tourists but also of criminals who will take advantage of the situation.
