Cebu City to spend P200M for construction of evac, drug education centers in 7 barangays

THE Cebu City Government will be spending around P200 million on the construction of infrastructure projects in seven barangays.Eleazar Lipang of the City Architects Office said on Friday, June 17, 2022, that their office is already crafting the plan for the buildings that are expected to rise this year.Evacuation centers will be built in Barangays Duljo Fatima, Sambag 1, Sambag 2, San Jose and Toong, while a health center will be built in Barangay Budlaan.In Barangay Banilad, the City will be constructing a Drug Education Center.Lipang said each of the buildings will have a three-story design and will include a parking space.The budget for the construction of the buildings will be sourced from the Local Development Fund of the City Government, and the projects will cost the City P25 to P30 million per structure, he added.According to Lipang, if the barangays do not have vacant lots for the projects, the old sports centers in their jurisdictions will be demolished to make way for the new buildings.Lipang further said that they are also creating the layout and proposal for the construction of medium-rise buildings in Barangays Tejero and Basak San Nicolas.The medium-rise buildings will be used by the City Government for its socialized housing program for the city’s aspiring sector, the term used by Mayor Michael Rama to describe the informal settlers in the city.
