Cebu tourism workers vaxxed

Ninety-three percent of workers in Department of Tourism (DOT)-accredited sectors in Cebu have been fully vaccinated, according to data from the DOT 7.

Records show that as of Oct. 6, 2021, a total of 7,893 active tourism workers in the province of Cebu— including the cities of Cebu, Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue— have been vaccinated.

These tourism workers are from the following DOT-accredited sectors: A1 Hotels (isolation facilities, quarantine facilities and multiple-use accommodation establishments), regular hotels (purely leisure accommodation establishments) and restaurants.

The figures account for 93 percent of the 9,673 initial target number of tourism workers for the vaccination program.

Of the tourism-accredited vaccinated individuals, 4,268 are active workers of A1 hotels which represent 98 percent of the DOT 7 target for that sector.

While a total of 3,569 are active tourism workers for regular hotels or 70 percent of the DOT 7 target for that group.

Another 56 individuals (90 percent) who are active tourism workers in restaurants were also vaccinated, the DOT 7 said.

Hotel, Resort and Restaurant Association of Cebu (HRRAC) president Alfred Reyes also reported that 6,000 employees from hotels, resorts and restaurants under HRRAC have been inoculated against the Covid-19.

Meanwhile, the Department of Health (DOH) 7 lauded the Municipality of Medellin for having vaccinated 141 out of its 148 (95 percent) active tourism workers.
