Cebuano Studies Center, mad to hold writing workshop

THE University of San Carlos Cebuano Studies Center, in association with the Mamugnaong Anak sa Dagang (MAD), is now accepting submissions for Hinashasan: A Workshop for Young Writers, which will be held online on April 9-10, 2021.

The aim of the workshop is to discover and cultivate promising young literary talent from the Visayas and Mindanao.

Slots shall be reserved exclusively for writers from or currently enrolled in schools in these parts of the country who are 25 years of age or younger.

Interested applicants may submit a suite of three to five poems or one five- to eight-page short story written in either English or Cebuano.

Entries must be typed in Times New Roman, font size 12, with one-inch margin on all sides, double-spaced, and must not bear the author’s name.

Applicants are required to submit their resume with a scanned 2×2 ID picture.

A statement of intent providing a short background of their literary interests should accompany the application.

Submissions must be sent as attachments in Word format with the subject header format “Hinashasan_[Applicant’s Full Name]_[Genre: Poetry or Fiction]” (example: Hinashasan_Juan dela Cruz_Fiction) to the following email address: tjlcs.submissions@gmail.com. Twenty slots are allocated for the workshop fellows.

Deadline for submission is on Friday, March 19, 2021. The final list of fellows will be announced by the end of March.
