CIDG 7 pursues Akhro death investigation

CRIMINAL Investigation and Detection Group in Central Visayas (CIDG 7) Director Police Colonel Peter Tagtag Jr. has promised to take a look at unsolved cases, including the killing of Alpha Kappa Rho (Akhro) Central Visayas chapter president Richard Buscayno.

Buscayno was gunned down by two men on board a motorcycle on Tres de Abril St., Barangay Calamba, Cebu City at 5:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 8, 2021, exactly a year ago.

He died instantly after sustaining four gunshot wounds on his body.

Aside from being an Akhro official, Buscayno was a former councilor of Barangay Calamba, Cebu City.

Buscayno’s case had already been turned over by the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) to the CIDG 7 after there had been no leads on the killing.

Former CIDG 7 chief, Police Col. Ireneo Dalogdog, who recently assumed the post of CCPO chief, said the CIDG 7 personnel will continue to gather more information to establish the identities of the perpetrators.

“Mao man gyud ni ang proseso basta ang kaso moabot ug six months na. Mabutang na nga cold case, so ang CIDG na ang mopadayon sa imbestigasyon niini (That is really how the procedure goes if the case remains unsolved for six months. It will be considered a cold case and will be turned over to the CIDG, which will continue the investigation),” Dalogdog said.

The case was turned over to the CIDG 7 when Dalogdog was still its head.

Members of Akhro, Buscayno’s fraternity, and his relatives are expected to commemorate his first death anniversary on Saturday.
