Converge slips past Blackwater to bolster quarterfinal bid in PBA Philippine Cup

Rookie big man Justin Arana was clutch in crunchtime, scoring Converge’s last four points to push them past the Blackwater Bossing, 92-90,in the PBA Season 47 Philippine Cup at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.Down two, 88-90, after Blackwater guard JVee Casio scored an and-one, Arana scored a layup to tie the game up at 90-all with 34 seconds to go. Then after Casio missed a jumper, Arana made a short stab with 10 seconds remaining to shove Converge in front.Blackwater big man Kevin Ebona then missed the potential game-tying basket to hand Converge the victory that gave them a 5-6 card.It was another superb effort from Arana who finished with 13 points and five rebounds. Maverick Ahanmisi led the way for the FiberXers with 18 points, seven assists, and four boards.Blackwater has now lost four in a row to drop to an even 5-5. Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser put up 20 points and 12 rebounds, while Casio had 16 points.
