Distribution of Odette cash assistance in Mandaue City extended until June 22

THE Mandaue City Treasurer’s Office has extended the distribution of cash aid for Typhoon Odette (Rai) victims until June 22, 2022.Officials of the city’s treasury made the announcement after they received calls from concerned typhoon victims who claimed that they have yet to receive their cash aid from the Mandaue City government.Julia Ballesteros, Mandaue City assistant treasurer, told reporters on Wednesday, June 15, that the June 22 deadline will be the last time they would give an extension to the city’s typhoon victims.Ballesteros said they will need to liquidate the funds provided by the City as required by government auditing policies.She advised those who have yet to claim their cash aid to approach the Mandaue City Social Welfare Office so that they can be accounted for.The distribution of cash aid for Odette victims resumed on Monday, June 13, and ended on Friday, June 17.Based on the city’s records, around 49,910 families living in the city’s 27 barangays are entitled to the cash aid provided by the City after being directly affected by Odette. The City allocated around P158 million for the cash aid.The cash aid is distributed per barangay.Families or individuals whose homes were damaged during the typhoon are entitled to receive a P3,000 cash aid while those who lost their homes completely are entitled to receive P5,000.The distribution for the first batch of the cash aid started in February but was postponed due to the ban on government spending due to the May 9 elections from March 25 to May 8.
