Heno beats Pael via UD

ONE-TIME world title challenger Eduard Heno had an impressive ring return with a lopsided unanimous decision win over Renoel Pael on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at the Yñares Sports Arena in Pasig City.Although Pael was aggressive all night long, Heno picked his punches well and landed the more telling blows.All three judges scored the fight in favor of Heno with scores of 115-112, 117-110 and 117-110.The 29-year-old Heno ended a three-year layoff and improved to 15-1-5 with five knockouts. He lost his last fight in 2019, which was a world title fight against then World Boxing Organization (WBO) light flyweight champion Elwin Soto. It was Heno’s first career defeat.Pael, who also hasn’t fought since 2019, dropped to 23-12-1 with 12 knockouts.Meanwhile, 22-year-old hard-hitting prospect Weljohn Mindoro (8-0, 8 KOs) demolished former regional champion Jason Egera (24-25-3, 11 KOs) in the sixth round of a scheduled 10-round main supporting bout.Mindoro dropped the tough Egera in the third and stopped him at the 43 second mark of the sixth.Unbeaten up-and-comer RV Deniega (7-0, 4 KOs) scored the biggest win of his budding career with a fourth round knockout of ex-World Boxing Council (WBC) flyweight king Sonny Boy Jaro (45-16-5, 32 KOs).Deniega, who fights out of the Sanman Gym in Gen. Santos City, dropped the 40-year-old Jaro in the second and knocked him out at the 1:37 mark.In the undercard, former UFC fighter Jenel Lausa (11-0-1, 7 KOs) scored a fifth round technical knockout of Michael Escobia (12-22-1, 3 KOs), ArAr Andales (14-2-1, 6 KOs), stopped Bonjun Loperez (12-7-1, 6 KOs) in four rounds, Jericho Gatchalian (4-0, 2 KOs) beat Paolo Sy (6-7-1, 3 KOs) by majority decision, Rodel Sunquit (3-7-1, 1 KO) ended Lloyd Jardeliza’s (8-13-4, 6 KOs) night in the second round, Justine Darap (11-2, 7 KOs) forced Jayar Diama (7-20-7, 3 KOs) to quit on his stool in the fourth round, Jonathan Gajana (2-0, 1 KO) knocked out debutant Iresh Alejandre (0-1) in the opening round and Roman Canto (15-15-3, 9 KOs) stopped fellow veteran Jomar Borbon (4-32-2, 2 KOs) in the second round.
