They identified the suspect as 44-year-old Marco Antonio Gungog, a resident of Barangay Umapad, Mandaue City.
They recovered several packets of shabu with a standard drug price of P680,000 from Gungog.
According to Leia Alcantara, PDEA Central Visayas information officer, they placed the suspect under surveillance for two months before they built a case against him.
She said Gungog could dispose of a kilo of illegal drugs every week.
A reliable source tipped the agency about Gungog’s illegal activities, which prompted them to take action, she said.
Based on their investigation, they discovered that Gungog has a boss and that he would just wait for a call if there was an order for illegal drugs.
Alcantara would not disclose the name of the boss since the latter was the subject of a follow-up operation in the next few days.
Meanwhile, the PDEA Central Visayas is trying to determine the identity of Gungog’s supplier.
Alcantara said they are also checking gamblers and other workers in the cockpit, as they might also be involved in the illegal drug trade. (AYB, PJB)
