Darna’s nemesis, Heneral Borgo (played by Richard Quan), has gathered the most destructive individuals to form his “Super Soldiers.” The pack is composed of Noah (Paolo Gumabao), Andre (Young JV), Mayor Zaldy (Simon Ibarra), Maisha (Dawn Chang), Sigfried (Joshua Colet), Arthur Pineda (Eric Fructuoso), Ishna (Kim Rodriguez) and Ali (Mark Manicad).
Noah can manipulate fire, Andre has explosive powers, Mayor Zaldy has superhuman strength, Maisha can make people involuntarily move and mimic her, Pineda can control inanimate objects, and Sigfried can create a force field as a shield. Ishna, the longtime assistant of Borgo, is a shapeshifter, while Ali has yet to transform and demonstrate his superpowers.
The Super Soldiers have their own high-quality costumes that make them appear similar to characters appearing in Hollywood projects. The get-ups also make them at par with the outfits of Darna (Jane de Leon) and her arch-rival Valentina (Janella Salvador).
The cast admitted to feeling uncomfortable on the set at first, as their costumes make them feel so warm when they shoot outside, but so cold when the set is indoors. In a recent media conference, the actors behind the “Super Soldiers” expressed their appreciation for Jane and Janella, who are in costume most of the time yet have no complaints whatsoever.
The series currently showcases the Super Soldiers now ready for the coming battles. Borgo has also revealed his identity to Darna as Rex Vanguardia, a trap in order to find out the human side of the superhero so he can fully unleash the real monster behind Regina/Valentina. Borgo has his ultimate goal: Seize the mystical white stone and eventually rule over the entire universe.
The battle between good and evil in “Darna” are aired weeknights at 8 p.m. on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, CineMo, A2Z and TV5. The ABS-CBN series, produced by JRB Creative Production, is also available on iWantTFC and TFC.
