It was in March two years ago when our group of Lifestyle writers had a leisurely lunch with concert pianist/music advocate Ingrid Sala Santamaria hosted by Seda general manager Gwen Dela Cruz. A week later, the Covid lockdown was implemented and we lost touch with each other.Well, last March 16 (almost exactly two years later), Flor Ynclino, Cookie Newman, Chinggay Utzurrum and I had a happy reunion with Ingrid over a sumptuous merienda at Golden Prince Hotel. Yes, the popular merienda buffet at the Kabilin Lounge is back and we were guests of Benny and Tet, and Aaron Que. Hovering over the native spread was food consultant Louella Alix who also announced that the hotel’s breakfast buffet at LeMon is back. Golden Prince Hotel is now in full operation.During our tete-a-tete, pianist par excellence Ingrid informed us that she was in town to take part in the concert to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the presidential plane crash in Mt. Manunggal which took away the life of President Ramon Magsaysay. At the helm of the activity was the late president’s grandson Paco Magsaysay. Venue was the impressive Cebu landmark, the Temple of Leah up the Busay hills last March 17.By the way PIVAC mover Benny Que is inviting all those interested in growing cacao to a Basic Cacao Farming Seminar and Workshop on March 26 & 27 with Grover Rosit, Cacao czar from Davao as main speaker. PIVAC stands for Philippines Inno-Venture Agriculture Cooperative. Domingo Larrazabal, presided over the groundbreaking of the PVL Bldg. at the Cebu Doctors’ University campus assisted by her children Dr. Philip, Dr. Potenciano III, Mia L. Carcel and Betty L. Veloso. The Potenciano Veloso Larrazabal building (named after the CDU & CDH founder) is a 14-storey structure with two bridges that will connect it to the present CDU main building. It will house additional classrooms, laboratories, libraries and other learning spaces as well as retail, food and outpatient services on the ground floor.***Cafe Summit of Summit Galleria Cebu opened its doors last month at the first level of the hotel at the Robinsons Galleria complex. Fully accessible from the mall, the modern cafe offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. Chef Mau Dominguez is the lord and master of the kitchen and has introduced innovative twists to Filipino and other Asian cuisine.Over lunch (honoring the March birthday celebrants) with Summit Galleria Cebu general manager Arlene Tongco and executive director Charles Lim of Selrahco (PR & marketing consultant of Robinsons Hotels & Resorts), we (a trio of lady writers) got to taste the latest yummies on the menu. My favorites were the chef’s version of Laksa and Lechon Kawali although everything else (Caesar Salad-inspired, Gingered Shrimps, Scallops Duo, No-batter Chicken and Annatto Chorizo Rice) were all so good!
