Pagadian for real, beats Braves

THE Pagadian Explorers continued to show that they are for real as they ran roughshod over the Kapatagan Buffalo Braves, 95-67, in the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup Mindanao Leg on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at the Pagadian City Gymnasium.

Up by two after the first 10 minutes of action, the Explorers tightened their defense and dominated the next two periods, outscoring Kapatagan 53-36 in that stretch to build a 72-53 lead heading to the fourth canto.

The victory propped Pagadian’s record up to an impeccable 3-0 (win-loss). Rich Guinitaran continued his stellar play in this competition as he compiled 16 points on 7-of-12 shooting and added five rebounds and three steals. Rene Pamaran added 15 markers off the bench, while point guard Keanu Caballero produced 12 points and eight assists for the team of head coach Harold Sta. Cruz.

After winning their first outing, Kapatagan has now lost two straight as they struggled against Pagadian’s ferocious defense, making just 29 percent of their field goals. Marlon Monte paced Kapatagan with 14 points, eight rebounds and four assists, while Shaq Alanes contributed 12. (JNP)
