We, members of the USC Alpha Sigma Fraternity, condemn the brazen murder of our brother, Atty. Rex JMa Fernandez, who was ambushed by at least two riding-in-tandem gunmen in broad daylight and full view of many people on Thursday, August 26, 2021.
As an active concerned citizen and in the practice of his law profession, Brod Rex was unyielding in his advocacy for human rights and the protection of the welfare of those he represented before the bar of justice. He was a vocal participant in the democratic process, and actively worked for the election of the incumbent presidential administration. Still, he never relinquished, and in fact exercised, his citizen’s right to peaceful dissent.
This outrageous crime has no place in a democratic civilized society. It is incumbent on the authorities concerned to conduct a prompt, thorough, and impartial investigation and bring the culprits and brains of this murder to justice. We join the professional sectors, civil society and the public at large in demanding justice for Atty. Rex JMA Fernandez.
