Vitor eyes next level, faces Yupang in ‘Kumong Bol-anon 7’ main event

VIRGEL Vitor is out to prove that he’s ready for the next level by putting on an impressive performance on Friday night, Sept. 9, 2022, against Thai up-and-comer Arnon Yupang. Vitor and Yupang will duke it out for World Boxing Organization (WBO) Oriental super featherweight title in the main event of “Kumong Bol-anon 7” in Dimiao, Bohol.“I’ll put on an impressive show for everyone on top of the ring. I won’t promise a knockout but if a chance comes and that I’ll see a hole in his game, then I’ll knock him out. What’s important is that I’ll get an impressive win,” the 25-year-old Vitor said. “His style really fits my style. He’s also a technical boxer.”Vitor should break into the world rankings of the WBO super featherweight division if he beats Yupang and brings home the WBO Oriental belt. Since losing to veteran Mark Anthony Geraldo in 2019, Vitor has won five straight fights.Yupang won’t be an easy fight for Vitor because he’s a legitimate prospect. He owns a win over former world champion Amnat Ruenroeng and one-time world title challenger Tanawat Phonnaku. The 25-year-old Thai is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Taweechai Juntarasuk.Vitor weighed-in at 129 ½ pounds, while Yupang tipped the scales at the super featherweight limit of 130 pounds.Vitor is 18-2 with 11 knockouts, while Yupang is 9-2 with three knockouts.In the co-headliner, International Boxing Federation (IBF) No. 6 light flyweight Regie Suganob locks horns with unbeaten Indonesian prospect Andika D’Golden Boy in a 10-rounder.Suganob looks for another impressive win against a fellow undefeated prospect Andika.
