HONG KONG, Sept. 12, 2025 – The Sun Hung Kai Properties Hong Kong Cyclothon, Hong Kong’s premier annual cycling event organized by the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), will make its return to the city’s streets on Sunday, 30 November. This year’s event promises an expanded and diverse range of activities and experiences for sports enthusiasts, inviting them to engage with Hong Kong’s dynamic atmosphere. Offerings include professional races featuring top athletes on new urban routes, an iconic road-cycling adventure set against the city’s skyline for keen cyclists, and a festive cycling-themed carnival providing various sports and entertainment options. Registration for the Hong Kong Cyclothon opens on 13 September for all cycling enthusiasts.

The Hong Kong Cyclothon stands out as a key event in our sports calendar, delivering a unique cycling experience for both residents and visitors while highlighting the city’s successful integration of sport and tourism. This year, the event maintains its focus on broad participation, featuring the popular 50km ride, which guides cyclists across ‘four tunnels, three bridges.’ Additionally, the 32km ride, encompassing ‘two tunnels, two bridges,’ will introduce the inaugural World University Trophy, attracting student cyclists from universities across Hong Kong, mainland China, and international locations, including institutions ranked among the top 100 globally. For the City Cycling Challenge around Greater Bay Area (Hong Kong) – Sun Hung Kai Properties Men’s and Women’s Open, new and more challenging routes are planned to intensify the competitive thrill. Moving forward, the HKTB intends to expand the Hong Kong Cyclothon’s reach across the Greater Bay Area, collaborating with nearby destinations to cultivate a world-class tourism brand for the entire region.”

32km Ride to Feature Inaugural World University Trophy

The highly anticipated non-competitive rides encompass the 50km “four tunnels, three bridges” route and the 32km “two tunnels, two bridges” route. A combined total of 6,000 spots are open to local, mainland Chinese, and international cyclists. Participants will have the opportunity to challenge their endurance along key roadways, past famous landmarks, and through Hong Kong’s vibrant urban landscape. Notably, this year’s 32km ride will introduce the World University Trophy for the first time, uniting university cyclists from Hong Kong, mainland China, and abroad in a unique blend of sports, tourism, and cultural interaction.

Enhanced Routes Introduced for City Cycling Challenge around Greater Bay Area (Hong Kong) – Sun Hung Kai Properties Men’s and Women’s Open

This annual challenge emphasizes speed and strategic prowess as the competition heats up. This year, the City Cycling Challenge around Greater Bay Area (Hong Kong) – Sun Hung Kai Properties Men’s and Women’s Open diverges from its conventional circuit format. For the first time, the race will extend beyond Tsim Sha Tsui, featuring an elongated course that traverses diverse terrain. Cyclists will engage in an extended single-lap format, testing their boundaries in what is anticipated to be an exhilarating contest passing iconic landmarks such as the Former Kowloon-Canton Railway Clock Tower, the International Commerce Centre (ICC), and the Tsing Ma Bridge, all while showcasing panoramic views of Hong Kong’s skyline.

HKTB Organizes Cyclothon Carnival in West Kowloon
A Festivity of Music, Sport, and Community Spirit

The excitement of the Cyclothon will extend to the West Kowloon Cultural District’s Art Park, where the HKTB is hosting an exhilarating Cyclothon Carnival. Running from morning until dusk, the carnival will feature a vibrant blend of musical acts and sports demonstrations. Attendees can explore an assortment of food stalls, sports merchandise markets, interactive experiences with new sports, face painting, balloon art workshops, and numerous other entertaining activities. This program is designed to allow locals and visitors of all ages and interests to fully embrace the spirit of the Hong Kong Cyclothon. To ensure carnival attendees don’t miss any of the action, races will be broadcast live on a large screen.
